Jeopardy (Starfall): a teacher's guide
Teams · All ages · A1 to C1
A category quiz for teams. Teams pick a category and a value, answer the question, and a right answer sends the star back to the sky in the team's colour.
What students do
Mr Moon sneezed the stars into Barry's jars. Each jar is a question in a category, worth more the higher it sits. Teams choose a jar, answer, and win its points. The team with the most points at the end wins.
How to run it
- Pick 2 to 6 teams, or Class vs Mr Moon for a small class.
- Friendly rules (steals, no minus points) suit most classes. Classic takes points away for a wrong answer.
- Surprises: Shooting star hides one double, Madness adds mystery jars (swap scores, everyone answers, steals), or none.
- Press Space to show the answer, then mark it right or wrong. An optional thinking clock can be paused.
- The ? button has undo, score changes and End the game now.
Ages and levels
Works for children, teens and adults. Categories make it a good fit for review at any level, from A1 vocabulary to B2 grammar.
Lesson ideas
- End of unit review: one category per lesson of the unit.
- Four skills warm-up: categories like "Say it", "Spell it", "Finish the sentence" and "Act it out".
- Exam practice: one category per exam part, the highest values for the hardest tasks.
After the game
Jeopardy is scored in Class results. The end screen offers to replay the ones you missed.
