Escape Room (Midnight Lock-In): a teacher's guide
Groups · All ages · A1 to C1
A locked door with one padlock per language puzzle. Each solved lock adds a letter to the code. Crack every padlock before Mr Moon sets.
What students do
The game opens with its own story and mission. Students read each puzzle (a gap fill, putting words in order, a riddle and more), agree on the answer and type or pick it. A right answer opens the lock; a wrong one stamps LOCKED! and they try again.
How to run it
- Read the story on the start screen together, then press START THE CLOCK.
- Play as one class on the board, or let groups take turns at the board.
- Mr Moon has 3 hints per game. Use them when a group is stuck.
- The answer key is in the game, so you can check before class.
- To let students try it at home, share the game's short code: they go to lessonvibe.com/g/ and type it.
Ages and levels
Works for children, teens and adults. Teachers set escape rooms in schools, labs, museums and bank vaults, so the story can match your topic.
Lesson ideas
- Reading for detail: the clues only work if students read every word.
- Team talk: one group writer, the rest must agree in English before an answer goes in.
- Mystery end of term: a longer escape room with a time limit as the last lesson before a holiday.
After the game
Escape Room is scored in Class results, and it has a worksheet: "Escape on paper" puts every puzzle on a lock. See how to print a worksheet.
