How to play Mr Moon's Night Picnic
- Pick the words. Choose a ready list (animals, food, weather, Halloween and more) or type your own words, then pick the teams, the level and the pace.
- Hear it, find it. Mr Moon calls a word and the teams race to tap its picture. With two teams the board splits in half, one half each.
- Match it. Teams drag the pictures from Barry's basket onto the word cards on the picnic blanket.
- Remember it. A memory game in the dark: every card says its word when it turns over. The class tries to beat Barry's score.
Learning by doing
Children listen to find something Mr Moon needs for his picnic, not to label a picture. Every list has its own call lines ("Pack the apple!", "Mr Moon's weather report: rainy!"), so the word always comes in a sentence with a job to do.
The worksheet
The worksheet uses the list you played, at Support, Core and Challenge: listen and number, match or write the words, and read the clue. The answer key has the listening script for the teacher, and the QR code opens the home version with the same words.

Mr Moon's Night Picnic FAQ
Is it free?
Yes, every list and your own words are free, with no sign-in.
Can I use my own words?
Yes. Type 4 to 10 words, and each one finds a picture as you type. You can also upload a photo or play a word on its own card.
Do the children need phones?
No. It is a whiteboard game for the class. The home version from the worksheet QR code is for one child with a grown-up.
What is the difference between Slow and Fast?
Slow says each word twice with calm timers. Fast says it once, moves the pictures and adds a turn timer.
