Speaking prompts on the board
- Tell the group: What's your all-time favourite movie? Don't reveal the genre — just give the title and one feeling it gave you.
- GUESS THE GENRE: 'Heroes fight villains, save the world, and use special powers.' Then ask your partner: Have you watched a film like this recently? Describe it.
- GUESS THE GENRE: 'Two people meet, fall in love, but something keeps them apart.' Then tell the group whether you usually enjoy this kind of film — and why.
- GUESS THE GENRE: 'Strange events happen at night and you're afraid to look at the screen.' Then ask your partner: When did you last watch one of these? Did you finish it?
- Group: Together, name five films from the same genre. Take turns adding one. The team that finishes first wins this round!
- GUESS THE GENRE: 'People sing and dance to tell the story.' Then debate with your partner: Are these films better with subtitles or with the singing dubbed?
- Tell the group about a film that surprised you — you expected one genre but got something else. What was the twist?
- GUESS THE GENRE: 'The story takes place far in the future, with spaceships and new planets.' Then explain to your partner why this genre is so popular today.
- Pair-talk: Tell your partner about the FUNNIEST scene you've ever watched in a film. Try to make them laugh as you describe it.
- GUESS THE GENRE: 'A detective collects clues and reveals the criminal at the end.' Then ask the group: Have you ever guessed the ending of one of these before it was revealed?
- Mini-presentation: Choose any film genre. Tell the group what makes it special, who watches it, and one example film. Speak for one full minute.
- Group challenge: Together rank these genres from most popular to least popular in YOUR country: comedy, action, romance, horror, animation. Defend your team's order.
- GUESS THE GENRE: 'A drawn or computer-made world, often watched by families.' Then tell your partner: Which one have you watched the MOST times?
- Pair-talk: Ask your partner: 'Would you rather watch a 30-minute comedy or a 3-hour action film?' Defend your choice.
- GUESS THE GENRE: 'Real events from history are shown as a story.' Then ask the group: Should these films stick to the truth or change things to be more exciting?
- Group: Each person names one genre they DON'T like. Then together find one film from each rejected genre that the whole team would actually enjoy.
- Tell the group: What film made you cry? Even a little bit. Don't be shy — describe the scene.
- GUESS THE GENRE: 'Adventures in distant lands with magic, dragons, or impossible quests.' Then ask your partner: Would you want to live inside one of these films? Which one?
- Pair-talk: Compare cinema vs streaming at home. Which is better for which genres? Defend with examples.
- GUESS THE GENRE: 'Fast cars, gunfights, explosions and a hero who never gets tired.' Then group-discuss: Why are these films almost always about men? Is this changing?
- Tell the group about a film you wanted to like but didn't. What went wrong — story, acting, ending?
- GUESS THE GENRE: 'It's so bad that watching it together is the joke.' Then ask your partner: Have you ever enjoyed a film for being terrible? Which one?
- Group challenge: If your team had to make a film together, what genre would it be and what would the basic story be? Build the pitch in 2 minutes.
- Final reflection: Of all the genres in this game, which one have you watched MOST in the last year? Tell the group why.
