Timeline Tango: Past Continuous & Past Perfect
Adults navigate a 24-space board by narrating what had happened before, what was happening when, and reflecting on sequence of past events. Four teams compete through pair discussions, group storytelling, and quick presentations using B2-level grammar structures.

Speaking prompts on the board
- START: Pair share—describe what you had done before arriving at work today.
- Explain: While you were eating breakfast, what had you already decided about your day?
- Group debate: Had you been working here longer than your teammate when you first met? Discuss.
- Quick presentation (30 sec): Tell us what had happened in your life before you learned English.
- Pair talk: When your last vacation ended, what were you doing? What had you planned?
- Storytelling: Describe a moment when you realized you had made a mistake. Use past perfect.
- Group share: Had anyone been learning a new skill before this course started? Explain.
- Pair discussion: While you were growing up, what had your parents taught you about responsibility?
- Quick presentation (45 sec): Narrate a time when you had finished a big project. What were you feeling?
- Group debate: Had social media changed your life before or after you turned 18? Discuss impact.
- Pair share: Describe what you had accomplished by age 25. Were you satisfied?
- Storytelling (team): Build a narrative—what were you doing when you received unexpected good news?
- Group reflection: Had you travelled abroad before this year? Where, and what had you expected?
- Quick presentation (1 min): Explain a decision you had regretted. What were the circumstances?
- Pair discussion: While you were at school, what skill had you already mastered by age 16?
- FINISH: Final group share—reflect on what you had learned about using past continuous & past perfect.
