Story
- You arrive at summer camp on a sunny Monday morning. The camp is big and exciting! You see many new students. A friendly girl named Maya smiles at you and says hello. A confident boy named Jake waves from across the room. You feel nervous but happy.
- You walk over to Maya. She is very caring and listens to you carefully. Maya tells you about the camp activities. She says, 'I love helping people. Do you want to help at the camp clinic today?' You think about it. This sounds interesting and kind.
- You join Jake and his friends. Jake is very active and funny. He makes everyone laugh! 'Come play football with us!' he says. His friends are hard-working and practice every day. They are training for a big camp tournament. You feel excited to join them.
- You sit on a bench and watch the other campers. After a few minutes, a hard-working boy named Omar comes and sits next to you. He is quiet but friendly. 'Hi, I am new too,' he says. 'Do you want to explore the camp with me?' You feel a little better now.
- You and Maya help at the clinic all afternoon. You feel confident helping other students. The clinic nurse is very happy with you both. 'You are both so caring and kind!' she says. At dinner, many students say thank you. You feel proud and make a good friend in Maya.
- You tell Maya, 'Thank you, but I want to try something different.' Maya looks sad and disappointed. She says, 'Okay, see you later.' You spend the afternoon alone, feeling a bit lonely. Later, you see Maya having fun with other caring students. You wish you had said yes.
- You join Jake's football team. The team is hard-working and active. You practice every day. Jake is funny and makes practice fun. After one week, you play in the tournament. Your team wins! Everyone is very happy and confident. Jake says, 'You are an amazing player!'
- You watch Jake's team play football. They are very good! But after a few days, you feel like you are not part of the group. Jake and his friends are busy with practice. They do not have much time for you. You feel alone again, even though you are with people.
