A free Story Adventure for Young learners at CEFR A2 level. Topic: simple past tense in verbal form and nominal form.
Story
- You finished your English homework last night. It was about simple past tense. You put your homework in your backpack before you went to bed. This morning, you opened your backpack at school. Your homework was not there! What did you do?
- You asked your best friend Marco about your homework. Marco said, 'I saw your homework yesterday. You left it in the classroom after English class!' You and Marco went back to the classroom. The teacher was there. She held your homework in her hand and smiled.
- You told your teacher you needed to go home. You walked home quickly. You looked in your room. You looked in the kitchen. You looked under the sofa. Finally, you found your homework! It was under some magazines on the living room table. Your dog had moved it there!
- You told your teacher, 'I lost my homework.' Your teacher was not angry. She said, 'This happened to me too when I was a student! Did you do the homework at home?' You said yes. Your teacher gave you a new paper and said, 'Write it again, please.'
- You thanked the teacher. She said, 'Good job! You came back to look for it. That shows responsibility.' She gave you a gold star sticker. Marco laughed and said, 'You got a star for losing your homework!' You laughed too. You learned to check your backpack every day after that.
- You asked, 'Did you read my homework, teacher?' The teacher said, 'Yes, I did. It was very good! You used the simple past tense correctly.' She gave you your homework back. You felt happy and proud. Your homework was safe the whole time!
- You went back to school with your homework. Your teacher was happy to see it. She checked your work and said it was correct. You sat down in class and felt relieved. Your dog was not so happy when you got home—it wanted to play!
- You decided to stay home and finish other homework first. You worked on math and science. Time passed quickly. Soon it was late afternoon. You remembered your English homework! You called your mother and told her you needed to go back to school. But school was closed.
