Story
- You walk down a small street in Paris. You see a beautiful yellow shop with a sign: 'Madame Beurre's Butter Shop.' Inside, you smell fresh butter and warm bread. Madame Beurre, an old woman with kind eyes, looks very worried. 'Hello! Can you help me?' she asks.
- Madame Beurre sits down. 'My golden butter is missing!' she says. 'It is special butter for the big baking competition tomorrow. Without it, I cannot win. I looked everywhere in the shop, but I cannot find it.' She shows you a picture of beautiful golden butter in a glass jar.
- You walk around the shop. You see many types of butter: salted butter, sweet butter, and butter with herbs. There are also jars, boxes, and bottles on the shelves. Suddenly, Madame Beurre says, 'Oh! You are looking at my shop! But I have a big problem. My special golden butter is missing!'
- You and Madame Beurre search the shop carefully. You look behind boxes, under tables, and in the kitchen. After ten minutes, you find something interesting. There is a small window in the back room, and it is open! You see footprints in the dust outside.
- Madame Beurre thinks hard. 'I remember! This morning, I put the golden butter in the back room. I was going to take it to the competition. But when I checked after lunch, it was gone!' She looks sad. 'I think someone came into my shop and took it. But who?'
- Madame Beurre nods slowly. 'Yes! A young boy came in this morning. He looked at the butter shop window for a long time. Then he asked me about the golden butter. I told him it was special and very expensive. After that, I did not see him again.' She looks worried.
- You follow the footprints outside. They lead to a small park near the shop. You see a boy sitting on a bench. He has a glass jar next to him. Inside the jar is golden butter! The boy looks nervous when he sees you. 'I... I just wanted to look at it,' he says quietly.
- Madame Beurre calls the police. A police officer comes to the shop in twenty minutes. He looks at the open window and the footprints. 'We will look for your butter,' he says. But he also says, 'These things take time. I cannot promise we will find it before tomorrow's competition.'
