A free Story Adventure for Teens at CEFR A2 level. Topic: Murder Mystery.
Story
- It is a dark and rainy night at your school. The drama club is playing a murder mystery game in the old library, and you are the detective! An actor called Lord Raven lies on the floor. He is 'dead', but don't worry, it is only a game.
- You walk slowly around the dark library. Under the desk, you find a broken watch. It stopped at ten past eight. Next to it, there is a red glove. These are your first clues!
- Three people wait in the hall: Mrs Plum the cook, Tom the gardener, and Lily, Lord Raven's niece. One of them is the murderer. Mrs Plum looks very nervous. Lily smiles, but her eyes are cold.
- The hallway is quiet, and you can hear the rain outside. Near the stairs, you find an umbrella. It is still wet, and it has the letter 'L' on it. Who went out in the rain tonight?
- You hold up the red glove in the hall. Lily answers very quickly: 'That's not mine!' But Tom the gardener says, 'Lily wore red gloves at dinner.' Lily's face turns pink.
- Mrs Plum is in the kitchen, and something smells strange. 'I was here all evening,' she says. 'At ten past eight, I heard the garden door. Someone came inside from the rain.'
- Lily sits in a big chair. 'I was in my room all evening, reading a book,' she says. 'I never went outside.' But you notice her hair is a little wet. A good detective always listens for lies.
- Tom is in the garden, and his boots are very wet and muddy. 'I worked outside all evening,' he says. 'At ten past eight, I saw Lily near the library window. Then she ran inside in the rain.'
