Story
- It is 7 o'clock in the morning. Alex wakes up and feels excited! Today is Saturday, and Alex always plays sports on Saturday. Alex usually has breakfast first. The kitchen smells like fresh bread and orange juice. What does Alex do next?
- Alex eats a big breakfast with eggs and toast. Then Alex puts on a swimming costume and goes to the pool. The water is very cold! Alex jumps in and swims fast. Alex likes swimming because it is fun and healthy. A coach is at the pool today. The coach watches Alex swim.
- Alex is very hungry but excited about football. Alex runs to the football field without eating. After ten minutes, Alex feels tired and weak. The legs do not work well. Alex's friends are already playing football. They never skip breakfast before sports. Alex sits down and feels sad.
- Alex eats breakfast slowly and thinks about sports. Alex likes many sports! Tennis is fun but sometimes difficult. Basketball is exciting and Alex usually plays it on Saturdays. Volleyball is new and interesting. Alex's friend Maya calls and says, 'Come and play basketball with us at the gym!' Alex…
- Alex talks to the coach. The coach is very happy! The coach says, 'You swim very well! Do you want to join the swimming team?' Alex says yes! The team trains three times every week. Alex is very proud. This is the best day ever!
- Alex swims alone and does not talk to the coach. Alex swims for one hour. It is nice but boring. The coach never comes back. Alex goes home tired but not excited. Alex thinks maybe talking to new people is important for sports.
- Alex goes home and eats a big lunch with chicken, rice, and vegetables. Alex feels strong again! After thirty minutes, Alex runs back to the football field. Now Alex has energy and plays very well. The friends are happy to see Alex. They play football for two hours. It is fun!
- Alex sits on the bench and watches friends play. They play very well and have fun. But Alex is sad and hungry. The game finishes at one o'clock. Alex goes home alone. Alex feels like the day was not good. Alex remembers: breakfast is very important!
