Speaking Sprint: A2 Young Learners
A 24-space board game where young learners (age 7–10, CEFR A2) complete authentic speaking tasks at each cell. Players ask questions, describe routines, act out scenarios, and share opinions in pairs, small groups, and with the class. Prompts anchor to real-world situations like school, family, food, and daily life. Chance cards add surprise movement and mini-language challenges.

Speaking prompts on the board
- Ask your partner what they had for breakfast and if they liked it.
- Act out getting dressed for school. Your partner guesses what you are putting on.
- Describe your favourite animal. Say what colour it is and what it can do.
- Ask your partner what their favourite sport is and why they like it.
- Your team must agree: what is the best toy or game to play at school?
- Stand up and mime brushing your teeth. Your partner says what you are doing.
- Explain what you do on Saturday mornings. Say two activities you enjoy.
- Ask your partner: do they like pizza or hamburgers? Why do they choose it?
- Discuss with your group: what is a good lunch to bring to school?
- Show with your hands how tall you are and how tall your best friend is.
- Compare your school bag with your partner's. Say what is the same and different.
- You have 30 seconds to present: describe your bedroom and one thing in it.
- Ask your partner who lives in their house and what they do together.
- Act out your journey to school. Show how you get there and what you see.
- Your team must decide: which season is best for playing outside? Give reasons.
- Describe the weather today. Say what clothes you are wearing because of it.
- Ask your partner: what is their favourite subject at school and why?
- Stand up and show your morning routine with actions. Say what you do first.
- Explain what you want to be when you grow up and why you like that job.
- You have 30 seconds to present: your favourite book or film and what happens.
- Ask your partner: can they swim, ride a bike, or play a musical instrument?
- Discuss with your group: what is a fun game to play at a birthday party?
- Act out your favourite hobby. Your partner guesses what you are doing.
- Compare two animals: which is bigger, faster, or stronger? Explain your choice.
