Sentence Sprint: Word Adventure

A classic board game where young learners create sentences using vocabulary words displayed on each space. Players move around the 24-space board, landing on words like 'team', 'onto', 'wonderful', and 'curious', then speak a complete sentence using that word. Format variety includes pair questions, team discussions, mini-presentations, and action prompts. Chance cards add surprise movement and speaking challenges.

Speaking prompts on the board

  1. Word: TEAM. Ask your partner what sport their team plays and why they like it.
  2. Word: ONTO. Describe how you get onto the school bus every morning.
  3. Word: WONDERFUL. Your team must agree: what is the most wonderful thing about school?
  4. Word: CURIOUS. Act out being curious about something in your classroom.
  5. Word: BRAVE. Ask your partner about a time they were brave. What did they do?
  6. Word: NARROW. Describe a narrow place in your home. Where is it and what is there?
  7. Word: SCATTER. Stand up and mime scattering seeds in a garden for your team.
  8. Word: URGENT. Explain why it is urgent to finish your homework before playtime.
  9. Word: GLIMPSE. Ask your partner: did you get a glimpse of something cool today?
  10. Word: PECULIAR. You have 30 seconds to describe something peculiar you saw this week.
  11. Word: EMERGE. Act out emerging from under a blanket fort for your group.
  12. Word: VAST. Compare: is the sky more vast or is the ocean more vast? Explain.
  13. Word: FEEBLE. Describe a feeble toy or object that does not work very well.
  14. Word: SERENE. Your team must agree: what place feels serene and calm to you?
  15. Word: GLIMPSE. Ask your partner what they glimpsed through the window this morning.
  16. Word: WHISK. Show with your hands how you whisk eggs in a bowl.
  17. Word: JUBILANT. You have 45 seconds to explain when you felt jubilant and happy.
  18. Word: TRUDGE. Act out trudging through mud or snow for your team to guess.
  19. Word: NOTION. Discuss with your group: what is a silly notion or funny idea?
  20. Word: VIVID. Describe a vivid dream you had. What colors and things did you see?
  21. Word: SPRAWL. Ask your partner where they like to sprawl and relax at home.
  22. Word: SHRIVEL. Explain what happens to fruit when it starts to shrivel and dry.
  23. Word: NIMBLE. You have 30 seconds: describe someone nimble and quick. How do they move?
  24. Word: BUOYANT. Compare: is a beach ball more buoyant or a rock? Explain your answer.
  25. Some words here are too complex, must be suitable for a 6-8 year old
