My Word List Challenge
Teams race around a classic classroom board by speaking about the words on their own vocabulary lists. Turns mix pair questions, team agreements, mimes, and short timed presentations. Support phrases: 'I remember it because...', 'It means...', 'I use it when...', 'It is easier than...', 'I think it is useful because...'.

Speaking prompts on the board
- Ask your partner which new word on their list they used this week and where they used it.
- Ask your partner which word on their list is the hardest to remember and why.
- Your team must agree on the three words on your list that are most useful for daily life.
- Act out one word from your list while your partner guesses the word within 30 seconds.
- You have 30 seconds to present your favourite word to the class and explain why you like it.
- Ask your partner what they do when they forget a word and whether that method works for them.
- Describe a word from your list that you can use in a conversation with a friend today.
- Ask your partner which word they can spell now that was difficult at the start of the term.
- Stand up and mime a word from your list while your team guesses it within one minute.
- Discuss with your group which two words on your list would help you most on a trip abroad.
- Explain how you first learned your favourite word and where you saw it for the first time.
- Ask your partner if they have ever used a new English word with a friend and what happened.
- Compare two words on your list: which one is easier to say, and which one is more useful?
- Your team must agree on one word from the list and plan a fun way to teach it to the class.
- Show with your hands the meaning of a word from your list while your partner says the word.
- You have 60 seconds to convince the class that everyone should learn your chosen word.
- Ask your partner what they are going to do this weekend to practise their word list, and when.
- Explain what you will do with the words if you learn five new ones on your list this week.
- Ask your partner which type of word is easier for them, verbs or adjectives, and why.
- Discuss with your group whether a paper word list or a flashcard app is better for remembering words.
- Describe your word list to your partner as a treasure chest and say which word you value most.
- Ask your partner which word they wish they knew last year and why.
- ⭐ Bonus: Explain how you would teach one word from your list to a younger student using only gestures.
