Multiplication Times Speaking Race
Teens race around a 24-space board answering multiplication word problems and speaking prompts in English. Teams solve real-world scenarios involving numbers, prices, and quantities while practising past simple, comparatives, and formulaic present-perfect chunks at A2 level.

Speaking prompts on the board
- Ask your partner how many hours they study English per week and what they do in those lessons.
- A café sells 6 sandwiches per hour. How many do they sell in 8 hours? Explain your answer.
- Your team must agree: what is the best thing about school? Give at least one reason.
- Act out buying items at a shop. Your partner guesses what you are buying and how much it costs.
- A ticket costs 9 euros. If you buy 7 tickets for your friends, how much do you spend? Say the total.
- Ask your partner what sport they play or watch. How often do they do it per week?
- You have 30 seconds to describe your favourite meal and why you like it. Go!
- A school has 4 classes. Each class has 25 students. How many students are there in total? Explain.
- Stand up and mime eating different foods. Your group guesses what you are eating.
- Ask your partner where they went last weekend and what they did there.
- Discuss with your group: what is more important, money or friends? Why? Give reasons.
- A baker makes 12 cakes per day. How many cakes does she make in 5 days? Tell the class.
- Describe your typical school day from the time you wake up until you go to bed.
- Jeans cost 35 euros. You want to buy 3 pairs. Do you have enough money with 100 euros? Explain.
- Your team must agree on the best time to study. When is it and why is it good?
- Act out your morning routine without speaking. Your partner describes what you did.
- A pizza has 8 slices. If 6 friends share 3 pizzas equally, how many slices does each friend get?
- Compare your school with another school you know. What is different or the same?
- You have 45 seconds to convince your group that one sport is better than another. Start!
- A cinema ticket costs 8 euros. A group buys 9 tickets. How much do they spend total? Say it.
- Stand up and show with your hands how tall you are. Tell the class your approximate height.
- Ask your partner what they want to do in the future and why they want to do it.
- A shop sells books at 6 euros each. How much do 7 books cost? Explain your calculation.
