Hobby Hop: A Speaking Game
Young learners travel around a 24-space board answering questions and completing speaking tasks about activities and hobbies. Players ask each other, act out hobbies, and work together to reach the finish line while practising A2 English.

Speaking prompts on the board
- Ask your partner: What is your favourite hobby? Why do you like it?
- Act out playing a sport. Your team guesses which sport you are doing.
- Describe your hobby using three words. Your partner tries to guess it.
- Ask your partner: How much time do you spend on your hobby each week?
- Your team must agree: Is reading or drawing a better hobby? Why?
- Stand up and mime cooking a meal. Your partner says what you are making.
- Compare your hobby with your partner's hobby. Which is more fun?
- You have 30 seconds to present your favourite hobby to your team.
- Ask your partner: Did you do any hobby last weekend? What was it?
- Show with your hands how you play your favourite sport or game.
- Discuss with your group: What hobby is good for your body and mind?
- Explain why you like your hobby more than a different hobby.
- Act out your morning hobby routine. Can your partner guess what you do?
- Ask your partner: What hobby do you want to learn? Why?
- Your team must agree on the best hobby for rainy days.
- Describe what you need to play your favourite hobby or sport.
- Stand up and mime drawing or painting. Your group guesses the picture.
- You have 60 seconds to convince your team that your hobby is the best.
- Ask your partner: Can you teach me your hobby? How would you do it?
- Compare two hobbies. Which one costs more money? Which is easier?
- Discuss with your group: What hobby is good for making new friends?
- Act out your favourite hobby without making any sound. Team guesses it.
- Explain what you did with your hobby last month. Was it fun?
- Ask your partner: What hobby will you try next? When will you start?
