Follow the Steps: Instruction Verbs
Students guess 13 five-letter action verbs used in instructions at school and at home. Each clue practises order and position words like first, then, next to and under.

Clues
- First take a pen. Then do this to put your name at the top of the page.
- Do this to the door after you go in, so it is not open.
- Put something down carefully in one spot: '___ the cup next to the plate.'
- Get up from your chair and be on your feet. Then wait next to your desk.
- Use one finger to show where something is: '___ to the box under the table.'
- Push a button with your finger: '___ the green button on the left.'
- Make something not dirty: wash your hands under the tap.
- Say numbers in order, one, two, three, to find how many pens are on the desk.
- Carry something with you to a place: '___ your book to school tomorrow.'
- Give part of what you have to others: '___ your crayons with the person next to you.'
