Direction Quest: Find Your Way!

Teens navigate a 24-space board by asking and giving directions in English. Players land on spaces with speaking prompts about locations, routes, and navigation. Four teams race to FINISH while building A1 direction vocabulary and confidence in pair and group dialogue.

Speaking prompts on the board

  1. Ask your partner: Where is the nearest café from our school?
  2. Act out walking to a bus stop. Your partner guesses where you are going.
  3. Describe how to get from your home to your school using simple words.
  4. Ask your partner: Do you turn left or right to reach the library?
  5. Your team must agree on three places near your school and name them.
  6. Stand up and mime giving someone directions. Use your hands and body.
  7. Explain how to reach the bathroom from your classroom in five sentences.
  8. Ask your partner: What is one landmark you see on your way to school?
  9. Discuss with your group: Which is easier—going straight or turning corners?
  10. You have 30 seconds to present directions to the nearest restaurant.
  11. Mime crossing a busy street safely. Your partner describes what you do.
  12. Compare two routes to the same place. Which one is shorter?
  13. Ask your partner: Do you know where the nearest park is located?
  14. Your team must plan a walking route and explain it to the class.
  15. Show with your hands: turn right, turn left, go straight, and stop.
  16. Explain what you see when you walk from your home to a friend's house.
  17. You have 60 seconds to convince your group that your route is the best.
  18. Ask your partner: How many minutes does it take you to reach school?
  19. Act out being lost and asking someone for directions politely.
  20. Describe three buildings or places you pass every day on your route.
  21. Discuss with your group: What do you see on the left and right?
  22. Explain the difference between near and far using your classroom as example.
  23. You have 45 seconds to present your favourite place and how to get there.
  24. Ask your partner: Which direction do you prefer—north, south, east, or west?
