Colour Quest

Young learners race around a 24-space board answering questions about colours in their world. Players ask partners, act out colours, and describe what they see. Chance cards add surprise moves and quick speaking tasks.

Speaking prompts on the board

  1. Ask your partner: what is your favourite colour? Why do you like it?
  2. Stand up and mime putting on clothes that are blue. Your team guesses the colour.
  3. Ask your partner: what colour is their bedroom wall? Describe it together.
  4. Describe a fruit or vegetable. Use only the colour. Your partner guesses what it is.
  5. Act out painting a wall red. Show how you move the brush up and down.
  6. Ask your partner: do you have a yellow toy or object at home? What is it?
  7. Point to something green in the classroom. Tell the class what it is.
  8. Your team must agree: which colour is good for a car? Say why together.
  9. Show with your hands: how big is an orange? Describe the colour too.
  10. Ask your partner: what colour is their favourite animal? Describe it together.
  11. You have 30 seconds to describe a rainbow. Use colour words. Your team listens.
  12. Act out finding a purple flower. Show how you pick it and smell it.
  13. Ask your partner: what colour clothes do you wear today? Describe them.
  14. Describe your favourite colour without saying the colour name. Team guesses it.
  15. Your team must agree: what colour is the best for a playground? Explain together.
  16. Stand up and show with your hands: what colour is the sky? Is it always the same?
  17. Ask your partner: do you like black or white better? Why? Explain your answer.
  18. You have 60 seconds to tell the class about your favourite colour and why.
  19. Act out mixing two colours together. Show how you stir. Your team says the new colour.
  20. Describe something pink in the classroom or at home. Is it big or small?
  21. Your team must agree: what colour makes you happy? Say why you all like it.
  22. Ask your partner: what is their favourite colour to wear? Do they have that colour now?
