Animals Adventure — Speak, Mime and Guess
An A2 speaking board game for young learners about animals. 17 cells of mime-and-guess, pair-talk, group challenges, mini-presentation, and quick-fire questions. Replaces a closed 'Can a ___ ___?' drill with genuine communicative tasks where learners describe, compare, and guess animals.

Speaking prompts on the board
- Tell the group: 'My favourite animal is ___ because ___.' Use ONE adjective in the reason!
- Pair-talk: Ask your partner: 'Have you got a pet?' If yes — describe it. If no — what pet would you like? Then swap.
- Mime a BIG animal! Your team asks: 'Can it run? Can it swim? Can it fly?' until they guess what you are.
- Quick: Name three animals that can fly. Then name three that can't but live in the sky (e.g. clouds!).
- Tell the group ONE animal you're a bit scared of and explain why in two sentences.
- Mime a SLOW animal. Your team uses adjectives ('It is slow! It is small!') and guesses the animal.
- Group challenge: Together, list five things a cat can do. Take turns saying one each ('A cat can ___').
- Pair-talk: Ask your partner: 'Where do fish live?' and 'Can YOU swim like a fish?' Compare your swimming!
- Describe a giraffe to the group WITHOUT saying 'giraffe' or 'tall'. Use three other words. Team guesses!
- Quick: Bees are yellow and black. Name TWO more animals that are yellow. Name TWO more that are black.
- Mini-presentation: Choose ANY animal. Tell the group three things about it (where it lives, what it eats, what it can do). Speak for 30 seconds.
- Group: Each person picks an animal in their head. Take turns asking yes/no questions ('Is it big? Has it got stripes?') to guess each other's animals.
- Mime a tiny scared animal! Your team describes what they see: 'It is small. It is shy. It is fast.' Guess the animal!
- Pair-talk: Ask your partner: 'Which is cuter — a koala or a panda? Why?' Then swap with another animal pair.
- Tell the group: 'My favourite animal in the WORLD is ___' — one nobody else has chosen yet! Add one cool fact.
- Group challenge: List five animals that live in cold places. Take turns. The team that lists five first wins!
- Final round! Each team member acts out one animal WITHOUT speaking. The team must guess all of them. Five animals, five mimes, no words!
