A free Story Adventure for Young learners at CEFR A2 level. Topic: airport.
Story
- You arrive at the airport with your family. It is very big and busy! You see many people, shops, and signs. Your flight is in two hours. You need to find your gate and check in your luggage. A friendly airport worker smiles at you. What do you do?
- You walk to the airport worker and ask politely, 'Excuse me, where is gate 15?' The worker is very kind. She checks your ticket and says, 'Gate 15 is down this hallway. You can also use the big screen to find it.' She points to a screen with all the flights. You thank her and feel happy.
- You look at the big airport sign carefully. It shows many gates and destinations. You find 'Gate 15 – New York' on the sign. But there are many people around you and it is very loud. You feel a little confused. Your mother asks, 'Do you need help reading the sign?'
- You and your family go to the information desk. There is a long queue of people waiting. You wait for ten minutes. Finally, a worker asks, 'How can I help you?' Your father shows your ticket. The worker smiles and says, 'Gate 15 is near the café. Go left at the next corner.'
- You follow the hallway with your family. You see gates 10, 11, 12, 13, 14... and finally gate 15! You are happy and excited. Your family checks in your luggage at the desk. A worker says, 'You have time for a snack before boarding. Boarding is in 30 minutes.' You have two choices now.
- You go into a shop and buy a delicious apple and a drink. It costs five dollars. You feel happy because you like apples. But now you need to hurry! You check your watch – you have only one hour left. You walk quickly to gate 15 with your family.
- You walk alone down the hallway. You pass gates 12, 13, and 14. But you don't see gate 15! You feel worried. You ask another passenger, 'Excuse me, where is gate 15?' She says, 'Oh, it is upstairs! You need to take the escalator.' You feel silly because you missed it.
- Your mother smiles and takes your hand. Together you read the sign more carefully. She points to gate 15 on the sign. 'Look, it is down that hallway on the right,' she says. You feel confident now. You walk together with your family to gate 15. You arrive with plenty of time.
